Nestled in the city of Milton in the South Sound area, you will find this fabulous yarn store that is stocked with local fiber delights and some perennial favorites. When you step through the door, you can expect a warm welcome and a comfortable place to sit and knit with fellow fiber lovers.

Hi! My name is Jen and I’m the dreamer behind A Little Knitty Yarn Shop. I love everything about yarn and being an entrepreneur…so it’s not shocking I dreamed of building a yarn shop! I’m a lifelong Washingtonian (despite the fact that I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but only lived there 3 months…so it doesn’t count). My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was 12 and I made some really ugly things for many years, but I was SOOOO proud of them! When my son was born in 2008, knitting became a daily obsession…that’s when I say I became a Knitter with a capital K!! I love sharing my passion for yarn and empowering others to tackle anything they want to make! As well as myself you can expect to meet Hilde, Kris, Elena & Sherri when you visit the store.

Where can we find you and how long have you been there?

You will find our store at 1007 Milton Way in Milton, WA or online www.alittleknitty.com, We just moved here 8 months ago, previously we were in downtown auburn for just over 8 years years.

What will we find when we visit your store?

We love local yarns and locally made items! We also carry universal yarns, Juniper Moon Farms, Queensland collection, Noro, Yarn Citizen, Yarnalia and Malabrigo. We carry Knit Pro needles and hooks as well as lots of notions. We are an authorized Ashford Dealer as well.

What are your favorite yarns/fibers?

That’s like trying to pick your favorite child!!! Right now I’m really obsessed with more rustic yarns and how they work up in colorwork.

What’s on your needles right now?

Chickens. So many freaking chickens 🙂 They might be gifts….or maybe I’m just making my own flock! There’s also a hat and sweater that I’m ignoring because of my chicken making spree!!!

What notions can’t you live without?

Stitch markers with the clasp like earrings. I adore them!!!

What’s your advice for a new yarn enthusiast?

Just keep trying. I made some super ugly things for many years. I made every mistake known to man (and probably invented a few more) but it also made me a better knitter. Have one project on the needles that is super easy and one that pushes you outside your comfort zone….and maybe 10 more you don’t talk about 😉

What’s coming up in the future at your store?

Eventually we will be adding a little tea cafe. For right now we have some locally made snacks and snapples….gonna tip toe into this venture! It’s still awhile out, but we welcome you to sit and craft in our Cafe area any time you need a little yarn break! We are also introducing more weaving and spinning opportunities!!

What are your recommendations for additional places to visit in your area?

We have 8 drive through coffee shops in this small town!!!! My favorites are Cafe Ellite (next door), spoon full of sugar and Uptown koffee (both up on the hill. )
