Meet Yvonne Ellsworth of Lavender Sheep, indie dyer, weaver, designer and a Puget Sound region fiber hero for the last six years. Her fiber journey began way before 2019 though, and in this Meet The Indie Dyer Q&A, Yvonne shares her story with The Woolpack.

Unsurprisingly the Puget Sound region is home to many fabulous fiber designers – after all, who wouldn’t be inspired by our supportive fiber community and all the natural beauty that surrounds us? With this in mind The Woolpack is launching a new series of features on local fiber designers, and to get things started we are delighted to showcase the talents of one of our Woolpack friends, Kristen Kittel.

A trip to the Skagit Valley is always a good idea, especially if you include a trip to one of our areas most inspiring yarns stores – Wild Fibers. Nestled amongst artisan shops, cafes and restaurants in the heart of Mount Vernon, you will be met with a friendly welcome and a fiber lover’s heaven. We caught up with store owner Brooke to find out more about what’s on offer in her delightful shop.

This month we caught up with the two inspirational indie dyers behind Nano Stitch Lab – Heather and Angela, who took time out from their busy yarn dyeing schedule to share their passion for science and knitting with The Woolpack.

I first came across Twisted Caster yarns last October at the Salmon Days Festival in Issaquah. I was immediately drawn to Kelly’s vibrant hand dyes and one in particular that was named, “Don’t Shh Me!” It has been a delight to find out more about Twisted Caster yarns and Kelly’s relationship with the fiber arts. Here she shares her inspiring journey in this month’s Fiber Heroes Q&A.
