All The Fiber Fusion Fun! June 7-8th, 2025

It is such a joy to be a yarn enthusiast in the PNW at this time of the year. There is so much to experience, enjoy and immerse yourself in. The Puget Sound LYS Tour and all of the excitement that brings is over for another year, but next up is one of my absolute favorite events – Fiber Fusion NW at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, Monroe. There really is something for every fiber enthusiast at this wonderful event – from sheep and alpaca, through to beautiful yarns and every stage in-between, you can sample it all during this joyous weekend.
Now in it’s fourteenth year, Fiber Fusion Northwest is a wonderful showcase for all that is great about our fiber community. There are very few occassions where you get to meet animals, watch fleece judging competitions, buy second hand spinning and weaving equipment, take a class to learn a new skill and buy stunning fibers all under one roof. I recently caught up with Committee Chair Heidi Lucey to find out what’s new at this year’s event.
Each year, you will find something new to enjoy at Fiber Fusion, whether it’s a vendor you have not seen before, or a new class to broaden your fiber horizons. Here’s a round up of what to look out for this year:
Fiber Fusion Bus – Knitting/crocheting while you travel, seeing old fiber friends and making new ones whilst heading to your favorite fiber event; this could be the best way to get to Fiber Fusion this year! The Fiber Fusion Bus is new for 2025 and is being launched to make it easier for Seattle metro-based yarn enthusiasts to join the fiber fun. The bus will leave Seattle Yarn in West Seattle at 8am on Sunday morning, arriving at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds at 9am. The return bus will leave at 2pm. Bus tickets cost $40 each and you will also receive a free goodie bag with filled with Fiber Fusion surprises. Booking is required, and you can reserve your place via the Fiber Fusion NW website.
New Vendors for 2025 – With over 80 vendors at Fiber Fusion you can find new products to fall in love with, and stock up on your old favorites. Fleece, fiber, yarn, tools and equipment – you will find them all! This year you will find many new vendors as well as familiar friendly faces. The Fiber Fusion website has a full list of vendors, so you can plan to visit your “must see” favorites before you go.
New Classes for 2025 – Great news if you are looking to learn a new skill, or brush up on an old one – there is still some availability in a few of the classes. Following the success of launching Friday classes in 2024, the Fiber Fusion organizers have created another wonderful schedule of classes across three days. Choose from needle felting, weaving, color work knitting and many more. Check out the class brochure here.
This Year’s Features Breed: Shetland – This beloved breed is small, hardy and will flourish in a range of climates. They are an ancient heritage breed that has thrived in the Shetland Islands for around 1000 years. Their fleece is soft and can come in a range of shades, colors and markings making it hugely popular for yarn that is ideal for blankets, garments and outerwear.
This year you can get up close to Shetland Sheep, listen to talks and watch demonstrations about this much admired breed. Of course, there will also be opportunities to purchase Shetland fiber to create your own work of art. If you own Shetland Knitwear already, this is the perfect time to wear and share it with our fiber community!
Your Fiber Fusion Checklist, or How to Get The Most from a Day at Fiber Fusion NW
Head straight to the welcome desk – As soon as you arrive make your way to the welcome desk where you can pick up an event guide and schedule. Don’t forget to collect your free bag and raffle ticket (prize drawings run throughout the day).
Pick up an event passport – It includes an interactive game to play as you make your way around both fairground buildings, adding to the fun and ensuring you get the most from your visit.
Take a class – Fiber Fusion is known for it’s focus on education. It’s a place to experience new fiber pursuits or refine your existing skills. There are 50+ classes on offer ranging from soap making to spinning with dog fur, and yarn dyeing to weaving. If you fancy learning something new, Fiber Fusion is your perfect opportunity.
Wander at your leisure through the marketplace – With over 80 vendors at Fiber Fusion you can find new products to fall in love with, and stock up on your old favorites. Fleece, fiber, yarn, tools and equipment – you will find them all!
Fiber Fusion is a volunteer run event. Heidi and her team work tirelessly to give our fiber community an opportunity to gather and enjoy every aspect of this world that brings us so much joy. I asked Heidi what she most looks forward to each year, “I love walking around and seeing the curiosity on peoples’ faces. It’s wonderful to see people learn.” Fiber Fusion is all about education and if you take a trip to Monroe this weekend you are sure to discover something new, engaging and heartwarming. Trust us.
